ELLSWORTH — Many dogs like to chase moving cars. However, a dog actually attacking a car is less common. Yet Officer McKay McLean responded to such a complaint from a local resident on April 29. Damage to the vehicle is unknown but the owner of the dog, Patricia Orchard of Ellsworth, was issued a summons charging the civil misdemeanor of having a dog at large.

Officer Zackery Kline responded to a domestic incident call on April 29. He determined no assault had occurred. He told the two parties involved to stay away from each other.

Officer Josh Steward responded to a report of youths fighting on May 2. He spoke with them but did not file any charges.

Officer Robert Angelo spoke with a local resident on April 28 who was concerned about his drinking.

Police responded to a request to check the well-being of a local elderly man on April 30. Officer Amie Torrey found him to be fine.

Angelo responded to a complaint of a woman yelling in her car in the Walmart parking lot on April 28. The woman was singing to music playing in her car.

Officer Adam Bouchard checked on the welfare of a child on May 1. The child was found to be fine.

Officer Jon Mahon checked on the well-being of a local resident April 30 at the request of the resident’s mother. He found the resident to be all set.

Officers assisted the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office in serving a protection order on May 3.

Officers assisted the Camden Police Department in contacting a local resident on April 30.

Kline fielded a harassment complaint at Union River Estates on May 3.

Officer Brian Smith responded to a verbal altercation on the Downeast Highway on May 2 and warned the two involved parties for disorderly conduct.

Police received a report of a new heat pump stolen from a job site on May 1. The item is valued at around $1,900. Police are investigating.

Brittany M. Arbour, 31, of Ellsworth was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a Schedule Z drug, unlawful possession of Schedule W drug (heroin) and illegal possession of hypodermic apparatus on April 29.

Daneishalys Fontanez-Matos, 23, of Ellsworth, was summoned on charges of violation of bail and operating a vehicle without a license after a traffic stop on April 28.

Michael Ireland, 57, of Ellsworth was arrested on a charge of violation of conditions of release following reports of a disorderly man on April 29.

Hannah Maloy, 24, of Ellsworth was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault, Class D, on April 26.

Jacob Lovejoy, 32, of Harrington was arrested on a charge of violation of bail conditions after a report of an intoxicated man walking in the road on East Main Street on April 28. Lovejoy was taken to Hancock County Jail without incident.

Karley Perkins, 29, of Blue Hill turned herself in to police on April 28 on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court.

Brenda E. Costello, 67, of Brunswick, speeding 46 mph in a 25-mph zone on April 29.

Beverly D. Esquivel, 31, of Trenton, failure to show proof of insurance, no inspection sticker on April 27.

Martha E. Hankins, 67, of Ellsworth, speeding 45 mph in a 25-mph zone on April 29.

Alfred Lanpher, 52, of Mount Desert, speeding 45 mph in a 25-mph zone on April 29.

Aaron Polge, 25, of Mariaville, no proof of insurance on May 2.

Stephanie Ramer, 28, of Ellsworth, speeding 64 mph in a 45-mph zone on May 2.

Richard Sharp, 27, of Bar Harbor, speeding 62 mph in a 45-mph zone on May 2.

John Stanley, 28, of Hancock, expired registration on May 2.

Mason O. Tupper, 17, of Ellsworth, speeding 54 mph in a 30-mph zone on April 27. 

Micaela Ward, 54, of Hulls Cove, expired registration on May 2.

Police said Mark Webber, 22, of Ellsworth had the cruise control on in his 2013 Chevrolet sedan when he went off the roadway on Bucksport Road on April 18. Webber was traveling west near Addie Road when he drifted to the right, grazed a fire hydrant and continued on. When he hit a driveway, the car went airborne, landing on the other side of the driveway. Airbags were deployed. Webber received minor injuries — a bleeding arm. The hydrant’s shut off valve was sheared off. The car was towed from the scene.

A Franklin man’s 2000 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle had a steering failure, causing him to strike a utility pole on Surry Road on May 2, police said. Richard J. Goia, 50, was driving south when the mechanical failure caused him to drive off the road. Rust on the driver’s side frame and tire assembly were behind the steering problem. Airbags went off. Goia was taken by ambulance to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital for chest pain, while Dave’s Towing cleared the Chevy from the scene.
