The Sierra Club Lake Group will host Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance’s (TERA) co-founder and executive director, Lindsay Dailey, at their next community meeting on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 6:00 PM. The presentation and discussion will be held via Zoom video conference and live-streamed on Facebook. The meeting is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required to attend via Zoom.

The Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance is a cross-cultural, multi-organizational collaborative that works to revitalize ecology, economy, and culture through indigenous-led stewardship. TERA is an intertribal nonprofit organization based in the ancestral territories of Eastern Pomo, Southeastern Pomo, Lake Miwok, and Wappo people. Dailey will talk about the growing movement to bring back the use of low-intensity, anthropogenic fire as a tool to manage the health of our fire-adapted lands. She will discuss the importance of “good fire,” the role of tribes in revitalizing this work, and how TERA is helping catalyze a Native-led resurgence of good fire in Lake County. 

Their partner organizations include Robinson Rancheria Pomo Indians of California, Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians and the United States Forest Service – Mendocino National Forest and they are funded by many organizations and individuals. 

“We’re pretty fortunate to still have this generational tribal knowledge and wisdom available. Coupling that with a caring community committing resources and we get the opportunity to maybe reverse the damaging patterns we’ve lived for the past few centuries,” noted Deb Sally, Sierra Club Lake Group Chair. “Hopefully, it’s in time for our future generations and wildlife to benefit.”
