Bolton Mountain Rescue Team (BMRT) were called out to Darwen helped rescue a woman.

A team of 13 from BMRT were on hand to respond having been contacted by North West Ambulance Service.

They travelled to Duckshaw, on the edge of Darwen Moor to help a woman who needed extracting from a steep hill.

A spokesperson for BMRT said: "After being treated by North West Ambulance Service and doctors from the North West Air Ambulance, the casualty was loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carefully conveyed a short distance to the waiting land ambulance using a simple rope system and carry.

"Three team vehicles attended and 13 team members were involved for just under two hours."

The incident happened last Tuesday and the team was out this weekend.

Members were on hand on Saturday, October 8, to support the Rivington Half Marathon.

The spokesperson added: "The team provided standby rescue cover for the Rivington Half Marathon, organised by Chorley Women's FC.

"11 team members supported the event and dealt with two minor incidents.

"Congratulations to the 161 runners who completed the event."
