At least 15 people have been killed after an "active shooter" opened fire at a primary school in Texas, the Mirror has reported.

Robb Elementary School was placed on lockdown at around 11.45am on Tuesday after gunshots were heard in Uvalde, United States, according to officials. The attacker allegedly fired at the school after exchanging gunfire with border patrol agents and barricading himself inside the building.

Governor Greg Abbott said 14 students and one schoolteacher are dead and more than a dozen have been injured in the horrifying incident, according to reports.

A passenger has described Transport for Wales as "incompetent" after they left him stranded in Hereford due to a series of cancelled trains.

Mabon ap Gwynfor was due to arrive in Cardiff just after midnight having taken a train with one connection. Instead he arrived at 2am having taken two trains, a bus, and a taxi costing £150.

The Plaid Cymru Senedd member had been at a funeral in north Wales on Monday and then put his children to bed before catching the 9pm service from Chirk to Cardiff, which should have one change in Shrewsbury. That journey normally means he arrives into Cardiff around 12.30am.

Photos have shown the aftermath of a fire that tore through a branch of Peacocks in the centre of Monmouth. A huge fire broke out in Monmouth on Monday with multiple fire engines in attendance.

A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed on Tuesday that more than 40 crews from fire stations across south Wales attended the scene.

The suspected cause of the fire was determined to be an accidental ignition.

The first part of a Welsh Government crackdown on second homes in Wales will come into force next April. The change will bring in stricter rules for holiday homes that are exempt from council tax.

Currently, any holiday house that is let out for more than 70 days a year – and is available to be let out for more than 140 days a year – can pay business rates instead of council tax.

Under the new rules, holiday homes will have to be let out for more than 182 days a year and be available for let for upwards of 252 days a year to qualify for the exemption.

A Cardiff woman has described her terrifying narrow escape from a fire which broke out in her partner's flat and destroyed it completely.

Police, fire, and ambulance crews raced to the scene on Sunday morning to rescue Rashel McCauley and her boyfriend Abdifatah Osman and put out the blaze, which started in the kitchen of the flat in Cowbridge Road East.

Rashel, 34, said the pair "can't believe" they survived the incident, which saw them trapped in their bedroom as smoke billowed from the kitchen and engulfed the entire room.

A woman has been rescued from a river in Swansea after emergency services were called to the scene. South Wales Police said officers were called to the water near Sainsbury's supermarket in Quay Parade in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon, following reports of a woman in the water.

It's not yet known how the woman ended up in the water or who called the emergency services for assistance, but police have confirmed the woman has been rescued safely.

Wales' First Minister has said it is "a matter of time" before Monkeypox arrives in Wales. Mark Drakeford told Members of the Senedd in plenary that he had met with the deputy chief medical officer on Monday, May 23 along with the Welsh Government health minister, Eluned Morgan.

Mr Drakeford said: "He was very clear with us this was just a matter of time. Wales is not immune from a disease of this sort. We're in a fortunate position that with cases occurring in other parts of the UK we've been able to put our response in place in advance of cases coming to Wales and that is exactly what we were discussing yesterday".

The first case in Scotland was found on Monday. England recorded 14 new cases on Tuesday, taking the UK's total to 71.

A drug dealer stabbed a man in the neck in a tent outside a Cardiff homeless centre after telling people “I need to go back to jail”, a court has heard. And after the alleged murder, he bought a radio and a book and told police "I am ready to go to jail".

Steven White, 44, is accused of murdering Jordan Cody outside the Huggard Centre on November 23 last year. Mr Cody sustained a catastrophic stab wound to the right side of his neck which caused him to bleed to death on the pavement.

The BBC were forced to issue an on-air apology after a trainee managed to broadcast an unpleasant message about Manchester United to the entire nation.

During a news bulletin at around 9.35am, viewers spotted that the ticker at the bottom of the screen read: "Manchester United are rubbish."

The surprise message caused a stir on social media, forcing the BBC to explain what had happened live on air.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have urged people to carefully consider if it is necessary to burn their rubbish after a fire got out of hand in Powys.

On Monday, May 23, firefighters from Montgomery were called to a shed fire in the Churchstoke area of Montgomery in Powys around 11:47am.

The fire had originated from a bonfire that was placed too close to the shed and had also spread to a hedge and a tree. Firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera. The Fire Service left the incident at 01:15pm.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are now encouracing people to consider not burning their rubbish themselves and instead utilise their local authority’s waste disposal services.

A man has been taken to hospital after an alleged dog attack in Newport. Gwent Police said officers were called alongside ambulance crews to Sheridan Close in the Gaer area at around 8.10pm last Friday following reports of a dog attack.

A 20-year-old man from the Newport area was taken to Morriston Hospital, Swansea, with head and hand injuries after the incident.
