FOUR fire engines rushed to an industrial estate in Appleton Thorn late last night, Sunday, after a fire broke out.

Crews from Warrington, Stockton Heath, Lymm and Altrincham fire stations were dispatched to Barleycastle Lane at 10.06pm after receiving reports of the blaze.

On arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered that the fire originated in a caravan, but had spread to a nearby industrial unit.

Two hose reel jets were used to put out the blaze in the caravan, before crews entered the industrial unit and found a fire inside.

Site staff moved vehicles and removed pallets from the area using a forklift truck while four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

They also isolated power supplies to a nearby portable building which was checked to ensure the fire had not spread further.

One person was assessed for smoke inhalation by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service which were dispatched to the area.

The scene was regularly monitored for hotspots before the incident handover was completed with site staff.
