FIRES have ripped through lands, roads, and businesses across south London during the extreme heatwave.
Met Office warned of extreme heat as parts of the UK were given a red weather warning for Monday and Tuesday.
Temperatures had risen to 40 degrees, marking record-breaking numbers, according to Met Office.
The London Fire Brigade declared a major incident in response to "a huge surge" of fires across London.
A string of incidents was seen in Bexleyheath, Dartford, Croydon, Erith, Eltham, Orpington, and Wandsworth.

A grass fire that spread to the size of three football pitches has damaged open land in Bexleyheath.
The fire broke out in Halcot Avenue at 3.34pm on Monday.
Around three hectares of grass, trees, and scrubland were damaged by the fire.
There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire broke out in Ray Lamb Way yesterday (July 19) shortly after 6.30pm.

A SHOP has been left damaged after a fire in Eltham.
The fire broke out shortly after 2.25pm on Tuesday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two fire engines and a fogging unit currently remain at the fire on Dartford Heath near Rochester Way on the A2.
Crews are using hose reel jets to dampen down any remaining hotspots and to prevent any further fire spread.
Smoke from the fire is now minimal and drivers shouldn’t expect to see large plumes of smoke drifting across the A2.

Around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a block of flats in Bridges Court Road, Wandsworth on Monday.
Four fire engines were called to the scene at 12.33pm.
A fire broke out on a sixth-floor balcony.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
M25 Orpington: Fuel tanker fire
Parts of the M25 near Orpington were closed on Monday after a fuel tanker caught on fire, causing chaos on the motorway.
The fire spread up the grassy verge next to the carriageway, causing a wildfire.
There were no reported injuries.
A grass fire broke out in South Croydon on Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to Chapel View at 12.20pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
One hectare of woodland was alight on Tuesday after a grass fire broke out in Croydon.
Eight fire engines and 60 firefighters dealt with a fire on Oaks Road at 12.07pm.
