The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews (ESFRS) were called to a residential property on the road at 10:41am this morning (September 28).

The fire is believed to have been started in an oil tanker at the side of the building and residents have been told by the ESFRS to avoid the area.

Crews from Uckfield, Crowborough, Heathfield and Lewes attended and used four Breathing Apparatus, one Hose Reel Jet and 1 in 7 foam to extinguish the fire.

The ESFRS confirmed there were no casualties and crews are currently dampening down the scene and ensuring it is safe.

Fire crews were also called to attend a building fire on The Green in Newick yesterday morning (September 27).

Firefighters were required to extinguish the fire in the roof of the property, which originated from an electrical box in the building.
