Pick-up truck on fire in Widnes

At 5.20am firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle being on fire on a road in Bower Street, Widnes.

On arrival the crew discovered that no-one was inside the pick-up truck, a Ford Ranger.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets.

One of the firefighters was wearing breathing apparatus.

Once the fire was out firefighters damped the Ford Ranger down to make it safe.

A thermal imaging camera was used to monitor temperatures.

Firefighters left the scene once they were satisfied that the vehicle was safe.

They were in attendance for around two hours.

No-one is believed to have been injured as a result of the fire.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty battery.
